The company’s management has made an important strategic decision to construct a production facility for polymer-modified bitumen (PMB). The manufacturing of equipment has been launched, site preparation is actively underway, and the planned production start date is May 2019. The production line capacity will amount to 35,000 tons of PMB during the summer season.

This production facility is the first and, to date, the only one of its kind in the Ural region. Its presence will make it possible to fully meet the demand of road construction companies in the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, and Tyumen regions. A preliminary market analysis shows that demand for the 2019 season is expected to amount to approximately 17,500 tons of PMB. The production capacity planned for the first commissioning year will allow full coverage of the Ural region’s demand for this product.

For reference: Polymer-modified bitumen (PMB) refers to bitumen modified by the addition of SBS-type polymers (styrene-butadiene-styrene) and plasticizers. PMB has improved performance characteristics compared to conventional bitumen. The use of this type of bitumen in the construction and major repair of motor roads makes it possible to significantly extend maintenance intervals of road surfaces and substantially improve the quality of asphalt concrete pavement, which in turn has a positive impact on road traffic safety.
