Russia is ready to revise the OPEC+ agreement
Russia is prepared, at a meeting of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC) overseeing compliance with the oil production cut agreement by OPEC members and non-OPEC countries (OPEC+), to consider proposals from partners to amend the parameters of the deal if such a need arises, an official representative of the Russian Ministry of Energy reported.
“At the meeting, any proposals that arise regarding further or additional actions may be considered from the standpoint of expediency and necessity. Russia is ready to consider proposals from partners, including those related to changes to certain parameters of the agreement, should such a need arise,” the representative of the Ministry of Energy stated.

“Any other interpretation or attempts to assess the future actions of countries based on proposals that have not yet been submitted constitute speculation and have no real grounds,” he emphasized.
The next meeting of the ministerial committee is scheduled for July 24 in St. Petersburg, where a number of issues will be discussed, including those based on the latest monitoring data for June, the ministry representative recalled.
In addition, it was specifically noted that the JMMC has been granted additional authority not only to conduct monitoring, but also to issue recommendations regarding further steps, if necessary.
OPEC and a number of non-member countries agreed in Vienna at the end of 2016 to reduce their oil production by a total of 1.8 million barrels per day from October levels, of which 300,000 barrels per day were attributed to Russia. The agreement was initially concluded for the first half of 2017. In May, its term was extended by nine months, through the end of March 2018.
